What's a Humblebump?

Humblebump is what happens when Jaime Johnson Jurgensen and Tim Jurgensen team up to tell stories for children and children-at-heart.

But what does it mean?

We took two words and smooshed them together!

“Humble” is defined as “a modest or low view of one’s importance” or humility. Humility is a virtuous characteristic. Humble can also mean simple or easily overlooked.

When we think about the word “bump,” we often imagine something unpleasant, like a “bump on a log,” or a wart on the end of one’s nose. Bumps are difficult circumstances, which are inevitable parts of life. Large or small, these bumps create opportunities to practice humility. A bump gives you a little push that propels you a bit closer to being your best.

When combined, a humblebump is a super-power. Humblebumps help you remember who you are and where you come from; they keep your head from getting too large to fit through the neck hole of your t-shirt! A humblebump transforms what is considered insignificant or small and helps it grow into something strong and resilient.

Here’s our heart

At Humblebump, we want to use words and images to lift the low, help mend the broken-hearted, and remind the lonely they’re not on their own.
